The Truth Is Out There. This was the main phrase used in one of my favourite TV shows of the 90s.
The X-Files screened between 1993 and 2002 and became a cult classic, with Mulder and Scully becoming pop-culture icons as they investigated unsolved crimes involving paranormal phenomena.
The good news for fans is that a new mini-series is filming, with original stars David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson back, and of course Kiwi Rhys Darby is involved too. I can't wait for the January release.
But I bet producers are hoping that the real truth isn't too quick in being revealed; at least not until after their mini-series screens.
On Monday, famed physicist Stephen Hawking and Russian tycoon Yuri Milner announced a $100 million search for intelligent extra-terrestrial life. Bold move and a lot of money, but I'm one who will be watching this real-life drama unfold.
The truth is out there - I'm sure we can't be the sole occupants of this place we call the universe.
BBC sexism row
When it comes to political correctness, I generally don't care for it at all.
But because of what I do, there are certain things that I have to be careful of, and sometimes even the most flippant comment can be taken out of context.
This week the BBC has apologised after veteran commentator Peter Alliss sparked a sexism row at the golf. He commented that Zach Johnson's wife "will want to use St Andrews prizemoney on a new kitchen".
To me, his comment is far removed from saying something like "a woman should be in the kitchen", which is most definitely sexist.
Are we getting a little too sensitive?
'Shop To Win'
For nearly a month now, the team at The Hits have been zipping around Rotorua in a new Suzuki Swift, as part of our "Shop To Win" competition at Rotorua Central.
It has certainly raised some eyebrows, with lots of comments from people who want to win it. I will admit that I haven't had the chance to get behind the wheel yet; it's always being hogged by the rest of the team.
If you want it, there is just over a week left to enter.
All you have to do is shop at any of the stores at Rotorua Central Mall and fill in the entry form. Drop it in the entry box at the food court area and then keep The Hits loud to find out if you're one of our finalists.
I'm drawing more finalists next week and we'll end up with 100 people having the chance to win on Saturday, August 1.
One person will win a $4000 shopping spree at Rotorua Central, and then the chance to win a new Suzuki Swift from Grant Johnstone Suzuki on Fairy Springs Rd. Exciting, good luck!
