Dear Miley Cyrus.
We get it. You're not Hannah Montana anymore.
But for goodness' sake, put some clothes on, stick your tongue in your mouth and stop being so disrespectful to the industry that has made you who you are.
The singer's latest shenanigans this week at the MTV EMAs reeked of someone who is desperate to top the previous jaw-dropping performance at the VMAs. Without sounding all "high horsey" about it, she needs to forget the antics and just sing.
Cyrus has a decent voice, some great songs and good looks. She's also the daughter of a famous singer and had a hit TV series as a teen. There's no way she won't be rich and famous.
So what's with all the trashy behaviour?
Performing in the Netherlands this week, Cyrus lit what was meant to be (and probably was) a joint (cannabis cigarette) when accepting an award. She also gyrated her backside (which is known as twerking) in the direction of a dwarf who was dancing with her.
Cyrus was heavily criticised after her shock performance at the VMAs a few months earlier when she twerked all over the stage, wore a skimpy outfit, waved a foam finger and suggestively poked out her tongue.
The performance and subsequent comments went viral worldwide.
Personally, I have nothing against "bad boys and girls" of the music industry. But for Cyrus, she should be more grateful to her fan base who made her who she is - young impressionables.
How many of them will now think it's okay to dress like she does, smoke drugs and behave in what can only be described as a slutty manner. She needs to take a leaf out of Lorde's book - now there's an artist with class and talent and she's at least three years Cyrus' junior.
