Locals will have the chance to take a peek behind the scenes of Rotorua's police station next month, with NZ Police hosting open days across the country.
The open days allow the public to see first-hand the different aspects of policing in their community.
The Rotorua open day is on March 11, from 10am to 12pm and will include a station tour, a look into the armed offenders squad, police dogs, search and rescue, road policing, youth education, the criminal investigation branch and scene of crime officers.
Police staff will also be on hand to give advice and information to anyone considering a career in policing.
"This year the national open day will focus on recruitment, and with more than 30 career paths to choose from within the police, there will be plenty of activities and demonstrations to showcase to potential future officers, their families and whanau," New Zealand Police Commissioner Mike Bush said.
Open Days will be held across all 12 police districts, as well as at the Royal New Zealand Police College.
"Policing has changed significantly and our open days are a great way for the public to gain an understanding of what a modern police service looks like," Bush said.
"In support of our current recruitment drive, there will be an information stand at each event.
"The public will be able to see and engage with police officers, police vehicles and some of our specialist groups."
This is the third time police have held a national open day.
