Hard work by Lynmore Primary School pupils paid off when they were named the winners of this year's Best Primary School Video in the Fair Go Kids Ads Awards.
Year 4 teacher Andrea Tapsell said the pupils had been working on structures over term three, looking at structures in many ways, with one being film and how films were put together.
She said the school wanted to give the kids an authentic learning experience and the ad awards was a way to do that.
The theme for the awards was taking an idea from the 1970s and bringing it into the current age.
Tapsell said when the pupils saw pet rocks they clicked that it was like Roto Rocks.
They decided to look at reselling pet rocks and put a digital spin on Roto Rocks because the pupils had been doing film animation.
The ad took about three to four weeks to make, with the editing taking the most time.
It was a collaborative effort between her class and Karen Belt's Year 3 class, she said.
They also had some help from a Year 6 pupil with the editing.
There were four actors in the ad and two pupils doing voiceovers.
The pupils found out about four weeks ago they had won but had to keep it quiet and off social media until the Fair Go episode was aired.
