A scene examination is under way at the Murupara General Store as police continue their investigation into yesterday's aggravated robbery.
Three men armed with pistols and a screwdriver robbed the Pine Drive store at 3.30pm yesterday.
The female store worker was punched in the face, and the male worker was also assaulted.
Detective Sergeant Herby Ngawhika said a scene examination was under way this morning and inquiries were being made.
"Obviously [the workers] are shaken, but physically they'll be fine," Mr Ngawhika said.
The offenders took cigarettes from behind the counter and attempted to take the cash register, before running from the shop.
Mr Ngawhika said the real concern was the time the aggravated robbery happened.
"The assault was just after school had finished, there were people around and the offenders were armed," he said.
"We are reviewing CCTV footage from within the store and on a neighbouring premises."
At least one of the men was covering his face with a yellow scarf.
Police still don't know how the men got away, whether it was on foot or if they used a vehicle, Mr Ngawhika said.
