The following incidents were reported to Rotorua police during the past few days:
Burglary decline
There's been a noticeable drop off in burglaries during the weekend, which is being put down to two factors - police keeping tight tabs on known offenders and miserable weather conditions.
Senior Sergeant Andy Allerton said there were just seven burglaries from Friday to Sunday, which was lower than normal.
"We have been doing a lot of intelligence-led policing by proactively targeting usual culprits and making sure they are complying with bail conditions and curfews. The cold and rain helps too because they don't like going out in that weather any more than we do."
Lock it or lose it
While the number of houses being burgled has dropped off, so too has the number of cars being broken in.
Mr Allerton said there were just six thefts from cars at the weekend, two from the central city, two from tourist hot spots and two in the suburbs.
However, he said all thefts were a result of thieves spotting an opportunity, whether it be the vehicles being left unlocked or with valuables in clear view.
