Boy airlifted from Tongariro

An 11-year-old boy had to be airlifted off the Tongariro Crossing today after injuring his leg.

The BayTrust Rescue Helicopter was dispatched to the Tongariro Crossing at 3pm to help a boy who had fallen and suffered leg injuries.

The on board paramedic made the boy comfortable and then he was airlifted to Rotorua Hospital in a stable condition.

The helicopter was used due the remote location
