A crash on Te Ngae Rd is blocking traffic, with police asking people to avoid the area if possible.

A police spokeswoman said police were called to a two-car crash at 4.45pm near the intersection with Vaughan Rd.

She said the crash was blocking one lane and traffic looked like it was beginning to back up.

There had been no reported injuries, she said.

A Rotorua Daily Post photographer at the scene said there appeared to have been four vehicles involved.

He said an ambulance and several police cars were at the scene.

One of the airport-bound lanes was closed, he said.
