After a year of hard yakka students of Te Wananga o Aotearoa Rotorua arts school get to show off their beautiful work.
Te Wananga o Aotearoa Rotorua manager of educational delivery John Turi-Tiakitai said he was proud of the work and effort class members had put into their pieces.
"The exhibition we have called Ahua [which means to form or make], it's artworks created this year from our students in the certificate diploma and certificate degree in Maori art.
"The works are all done in three different disciplines of Maori art, whakairo [carving], raranga [weaving] and rauangi [fine arts].
"Our courses allow the avenue for students to connect with their passion. As the exhibition shows some of our students' work in a very customary way and some work in a very contemporary way," he said.
Te Wananga o Aotearoa Rotorua recruitment advisor Selwyn Insley said part of the degree was having the experience to create and learn.
"It's stunning. It's amazing how talented the students are," he said.
The exhibition will run until November 18 at 1153 Hinemoa St, two doors down from Starbucks. The school is open for enrolments for next year. More information at www.twoa.ac.nz.
