Three window panels have been blown out of the Rotorua Novotel Hotel damaging three cars.
Rotorua Novotel general manager Edward Judd said he didn't know what had happened as he was on the other side of the building when the windows fell.
"We are just cordoning it off and making it safe at the moment and we will go from there. We have a manual we have to look at and then we have a whole lot of people we have to call and we will go from there," Mr Judd said.

Mr Judd said he didn't know whether the cars belonged to staff or guests.
A construction worker who was working on the site across the road said he saw the windows fall out and told the Novotel staff.
"They just fell out, there was a reasonable crash, just had a big gust of wind and next thing we saw the window falling straight down on the car, we didn't hear the first two that fell out, just the third one," he said.
No one was injured when the windows fell.
