Two local building groups and homes received awards when the House of the Year Bay of Plenty Central Plateau Region's top builds were announced.

Brears Builders were awarded a Gold Award for the Renovation Award over $500,000 for their Rotorua home.

Urbo Homes were also awarded a Silver Award for the PlaceMakers New Home $400,000 - $500,000 Award, for their Rotorua home.

A Mount Maunganui home and a Tauranga renovation were announced as this year's finest Bay of Plenty homes, winning Supreme Awards in the Bay of Plenty Central Plateau Registered Master Builders 2016 House of the Year competition.

The results of the regional competition were revealed at a gala dinner last night at the ASB Stadium in Tauranga.

There were 16 Gold Award winners from Bay of Plenty & Central Plateau, which will now be judged against Gold Award winners from around the country to find the National Gold Reserve finalists.

National category winners and the Registered Master Builders Supreme Awards for the 2016 House of the Year and Renovation of the Year will be announced at a gala dinner on November 26 at The Langham in Auckland.
