Public help wanted in Kalah Bar robbery

Police have released more details about a robbery at a Ngongotaha bar at the weekend where a man demanded money.

The robbery happened just before midday on Sunday at the Kalah Bar, Ngongotaha.

Police are wanting to identify a man who went into the store and demanded money.

The man is described as dark skinned, possibly aged in his 30s, short and of medium to chubby build.

He was wearing a green hunting style top over a black hoodie and his face was covered.
The man was given some money and left the Kalah Bar. It was unknown where he had gone from there.

Senior Sergeant Steven Shaw said police were called to the scene at 11.50am on Sunday.

He said no weapons or firearms had been seen or used by anybody.

"No violence has been used in the incident . . . there is no risk to the community."

A spokeswoman for the Kalah Bar said she didn't want to comment.
