People wanting to fly in or out of Rotorua today have been grounded with flights cancelled due to bad weather.

An Air New Zealand airport spokesperson said due to the poor weather no aircraft could land or take-off. There was poor visibility due to the low cloud and constant drizzle.

The first two flights left before 7am this morning before the rest were cancelled.

"If nothing lands nothing takes off."
