A man accused of attempted murder has pleaded not guilty to the charge.
George Robert Jolley, 24, appeared in the High Court at Rotorua this morning facing one charge of attempted murder.
Jolley entered a not guilty plea and elected a trial by jury.
The charge relates to an incident in the Western Heights area in December which saw two men hospitalised, one with critical injuries.
Defence lawyer Andy Schulze said a bail application for Jolley had been filed yesterday.
No trial date was set.
Jolley was remanded in custody and will next appear in court on June 1.
The Rotorua Daily Post's application to take in-court pictures of Jolley was denied.
