More than 200 cars are expected to grace the Rotorua Lakefront when the Rotorua Vintage and Veteran Car Club hosts its annual car show.
Chairman David Tomlinson said this was the only car show in Rotorua and the only public event the club ran.
"Anyone with a special interest vehicle is welcome to display. It doesn't have to be a car - but something unusual - it can be a truck or van. Last year we had a 1967 International logging truck and trailer unit on display."
It's an informal show open to any individual or club. In the past the club has had 200 vehicles on the Village Green.
Mr Tomlinson said they had invited almost every car club in the upper North Island.
"The Rotorua branch will have 50 vehicles on display. We know the Jaguar Club is coming and the Hamilton Austin Club and there will be a wide variety of English, American, Australian and British cars."
Last year the club raised $1000 for St John Ambulance and this time it is hoping to top that total.
The event starts at 9am and runs through to 4pm but he said the best time for spectators would be between 1pm and 2pm. There will be lots of polish, chrome, sleek lines, tail fins and fine curves to ignite enthusiasm. "It's a chance for our members to show off their egos," said Mr Tomlinson.
