Woman gets arm trapped in roller press

A woman has been taken to Rotorua Hospital after getting her arm trapped in a laundry roller press.
A woman has been taken to Rotorua Hospital after getting her arm trapped in a laundry roller press.

A woman has been taken to Rotorua Hospital after her arm became trapped in a roller press used to iron clothes.

The Rotorua Fire Brigade were called to Tendercare Laundry at 1065 Amohau St just before 8am to help free the woman's arm.

A Fire Brigade spokesman said the woman was in a lot of pain and St John ambulance staff administered pain relief while firefighters used a hydraulic ram to open the roller press and free her arm.

A St John spokeswoman said staff were called just before 8am to her the woman who they took to Rotorua Hospital shortly after with moderate injuries.

A Rotorua Hospital spokeswoman said the woman was in a stable condition.

WorkSafe New Zealand confirmed initial inquiries were underway regarding the incident.

Staff at Tendercare Laundry did not wish to comment.
