An Australian tourist was flown to hospital with moderate injuries after falling from a quad bike.

The Taupo-based Greenlea Rescue helicopter was dispatched yesterday at 3.30pm to Orauonui, 20kms north of Taupo to help an Australian tourist who fell from a quad bike.

She suffered moderate injuries in the fall and needed hospital assessment and treatment.

Due to the remote location of the incident the helicopter was used to get her to hospital promptly.
