The Trustpower TECT Rescue helicopter was dispatched to Te Kaha today where a 30-year-old Auckland woman had received injuries to her lower abdomen when she got caught up in a rope swing.

The woman and friends were rope swinging into a river when the incident occurred.

She was taken to the Te Kaha medical centre where it was decided she needed a helicopter to transport her to hospital because of the nature of her injuries.

She was airlifted to Whakatane Hospital in a moderate condition.
