Police are continuing to try to piece together the last movements of 43-year-old Richard Hoani Herekiuha, who was found dead in Otamatea Stream, Rotorua on Tuesday.
Since releasing his details publicly yesterday, a small amount of information has been received from the public by phone and social media from people who use the track or believe they may have seen Mr Herekiuha.
At this stage the last confirmed sighting remains Tuesday, May 19, the day he was also captured on CCTV in a local supermarket.
Police have received information from friends of Mr Herekiuha that he was in the Fordlands area on Wednesday, May 20, but the team is working to confirm the timings.
"Even if we can confirm the sighting by friends on the Wednesday it still leaves us with a gap of five days between those friends seeing him and the discovery of Mr Herekiuha in the stream," said Detective Senior Sergeant Zane Smith said.
"Any information no matter how small or irrelevant it may seem will help us to narrow that gap and draw some definitive conclusions about the circumstances in which he died."
If anyone has any information that might assist Police they are asked to contact Rotorua police on (07) 348 0099.
