Chris and Vicky Tetis have travelled all over the world and been to spas all over Europe, but it is the healing benefits of Rotorua that has seen them return every year for 50 years.
The couple, who are originally from Greece but are based in Melbourne, are in the city on one of their annual trips to Polynesian Spa.
Mr Tetis, 79, has been visiting the spa since 1965.
When he first visited it was called Ward Baths and was owned by the government.
He said in the 1970s it was mostly filled with American tourists but he noticed now travellers from all over the world were visiting.
"I moved to Australia and then I came to New Zealand for a holiday in 1965. I spent 10 days in Rotorua and I liked it very much. I have been coming here at least once or twice a year since then."
When the couple married, his wife joined him.
"The first time I came was in 1972 and I loved it from the very first time and since then we've been coming here many times.
"The spa makes us feel energetic and rejuvenated. We also recommend it to our Greek friends from Australia and they have come here at least twice and they loved it.
"I love the whole complex.
"We've been to other spas; Czechoslovakia, Budapest, and spas in Melbourne," Mrs Tetis said.
Mr Tetis put his good health down to his annual visits.
"I've smoked cigars for 60 years, drank three bottles of red wine a week and a litre of scotch a month and I feel so healthy and good, I feel young."
