Delivering excellent customer service with a beaming smile is second nature for one of The Warehouse's checkout employees.
But it's not just his smile that has locals raving about long-serving check out operator Tumai Nooroa.
Mr Nooroa has been mentioned several times on the Rotorua Daily Post Facebook page for his warm, entertaining, and unwavering customer service as part of the That's Great Service section which runs every Saturday.
"Tumai at The Warehouse has exceptional customer service. He adds pleasure to the pain of Christmas shopping," one commenter said.
Another commenter said Mr Nooroa "cracks me up every time and always wishes me a lovely day".
Mr Nooroa said he gave good customer service because he loved his job.
"I've been working at The Warehouse for three years now and I love it. It's easy to give great customer service when you like the environment you are working in."
He said his idea of good customer service was "no fuss and efficient".
"You don't want to be served by someone who is mucking around or acts like they would rather be anywhere else.
"By thinking about the service I want when I'm shopping, I'm able to provide that for my customers."
Mr Nooroa said the key to giving great customer service was keeping a positive attitude.
"Never stop smiling. You may have served heaps of different people that day but for that next customer in line, you are the first and possibly only person to serve them so you have to make them walk away feeling great."
The Warehouse store manager Steve Thornton said it was great to hear customers talking about Mr Nooroa's service.
"It is nice to feel the staff are appreciated and recognised as they put a lot of effort into ensuring customers receive great service in the store.
"Tumai is a fantastic worker, it doesn't matter what time of day it is, he is always smiling and never fails to give impeccable service."
