Within hours of his birth, Rotorua's first baby of 2015 was home and being fussed over by his big brother and sisters.
Joseph Te Naera, born without complications at Rotorua Hospital in the early hours of January 1, is child number six for Sarita Graham.
"It was pretty fast, I had him at 1.36am and then I got to go home by 11am," she said.
Ms Graham and her partner Michael Te Naera decided to name him Joseph, after Ms Graham's grandfather.
Joseph's siblings Destiny, 10, Israel, 8, Tia, 3, Cecelia, 2, and Taylor, 1, were excited to have him home.
"They all love him, they are all jostling over him, they just love him," Ms Graham said.
"It's really good to have him home and my other kids were aching to see him."
Mr Te Naera said it would be good to have another male in the house, as Joseph was just their second son.
"It's choice as, it's awesome."
Tia said she was excited to have a new baby brother.
The family had a low key Christmas break and had tried to keep things calm and quiet, they said.
Ms Graham, who is a full time mum, had not aimed to have her baby on New Year's Day, but thought it was a cool thing for Joseph.
"I was hoping to go overdue and put the labour off as long as possible but that didn't happen, but it's a bit of a buzz for him to be born on the first so that's pretty cool, he will always have some thing to do on his birthday," she said.
