Enjoy a Friday night with a difference, but you may want to pack some ear plugs.
Tonight it's the Paradise Valley Raceway club night, where members take their cars on to the track for a bit of a spin.
It's not a night of flash racing, says club secretary Sonja Hickey, but it's a night of cruisy good fun where people can learn more about becoming a driver or crewman.
"It's low-key," she said.
"We have them for the guys to go in and have a practice. For the kids in the mini-stocks it's never about practice for them. Sometimes you see some really good racing. For the price it's a cheap night out."
The club needs an ambulance on-site so gate proceeds go towards meeting that expense. Entry is $25 for a family.
The next big Paradise Valley event is the North Island championships on December 28-29 and Mrs Hickey said several drivers in the club were prepping for that event.
"A lot of the stock cars haven't been out on the track so far this season so it's important for them to have a practice ahead of that."
She said people could find out more about what it took to run a car. A production saloon cost from $3000 but super stocks started at $100,000.
"There's always people looking for crew and that can be very rewarding."
