The old wooden seats in the City Focus have gone.
The seats were removed on Friday by the Rotorua District Council to be replaced by a new "Jake Seat" designed by young Rotorua man Jake Krebs.
The first prototype Jake Seat was installed on the corner of Tutanekai and Eruera Sts following a recent upgrade of the intersection.
Another Jake Seat will be installed in the next few days on the corner of Tutanekai and Pukuatua Sts.
It will be one of seven Jake Seats to be installed in the central city.
Local businesses the Holmes Group, TPB Properties and social website Neighbourly have all sponsored seats and the council is looking for more businesses or organisations to donate a seat.
The investment is $3000 and donated seats will be identified with the donor's name.
Anyone interested can contact Portia McKenzie at the council by calling (07) 348 4199.
