September is Discover the Arts Month at the library and residents will be treated to free live performances from local musicians.
The performers include talented up and comers as well as seasoned Rotorua favourites representing some of the diverse talent coming out of the community.
"The Library Sessions" will kick off on Thursday September 11 at 6pm with a performance from brother-sister duo The Redneds.
Kymbali and Leigham Dender are students of Michael Barker's, studying drum techniques and mallet percussion. They will perform instrumental numbers on the Vibraphone and Cocktail Drum Kit, making for a unique audience experience.
Western Heights High School student Kymbali, aged 13, is in the school concert band and recently performed at Rhapsody Rotorua as a percussionist.
Leigham, 11, is in his last year at Malfroy Primary and performs as a drummer at the Bay of Plenty Blues Club.
The accomplished siblings recently opened for Swamp Thing in Tauranga and have hosted percussion clinics at local schools. If you'd like more details of upcoming Library Sessions, these are on the website www.rotorualibrary.govt.nz or just contact the programme co-ordinator, Karisma Vala: karisma.vala@rdc.govt.nz or (07) 351 7042.
