The Bay of Plenty Regional Council will hold four public open days for landowners on proposed new land-use rules around Lake Rotorua.
The draft rules set out how nitrogen discharge allowances will be allocated to individual rural properties using a mix of resource consents and permitted activities.
The rules affect all rural properties over 2ha in the Lake Rotorua groundwater catchment.
Landowners have a three-month consultation period to make submissions before the rules are notified in 2015.
Regional council manager Warwick Murray said consultation on the draft rules had begun and was a crucial part of the rule development.
Mr Murray said the open days would give small landowners (between 2ha to 40ha) more information on how the rules will affect them. Open days will be held on Monday and on Monday, September 17, Monday September 22 and Wednesday October 1 at 1125 Arawa St, Rotorua.
