A Te Kaha woman was seriously injured when her car collided with a horse last night.
The woman was travelling with two young children east of Omaio about 9.30pm when the incident happened.
The children were not hurt.
The 42-year-old woman was flown by the Tauranga-based Trustpower TECT Rescue helicopter to Tauranga Hospital in a serious condition. She had head and chest injuries.

A statement from rescue helicopter staff said the car's roof was ripped off in the crash and it was unknown what happened to the horse.
Tauranga Hospital has confirmed the woman is now in a stable condition.
