The long weekend gave Rotorua business owners plenty to smile about.
An influx of visitors during the Queen's Birthday break has paid dividends for the hospitality industry with most outlets enjoying a positive three days of trading.
Events that drew tourists to the city included the Rotorua Blues Festival, ThermaTech 3D multisport event and the women's rugby match between the Black Ferns and Australia.
Rotorua Association of Motels interim chairman Ron Hunt of the Malfroy Motor Lodge said overall it had been a successful weekend for members.
"It's a local holiday weekend, as in, not many people are coming from overseas. But we had a lot of people looking to come for just a night but have stayed, two, three nights," he said.
"The weather has certainly played a big part, if it was a wet weekend I don't think it would have been as good."
Mr Hunt said visitors were arriving from all over New Zealand but many had come from Auckland.
"The next one we're looking forward to is the school holidays, we've already starting to get some booking coming through."
Fat Dog Cafe manager Marty Kroese said their staff have been "non-stop" serving customers.
"We've been really busy, with events such as the 3D thermal multisport," he said.
"We've had queues going out the door on Saturday, Sunday and it's only [yesterday] afternoon that it's starting to quieten down.
"It's mainly been out-of-towners but we have had a fair share of regulars this weekend."
Pig and Whistle Historic Pub business development manager Megan Douglas said it had also been a successful three days of business.
"It really started on Friday and it just hasn't slowed down," she said. "Our crowd numbers have been half locals and half tourists with a lot of people coming for the 3D event."
