There have been reports Rotorua Girls' High School students have been sent home after the boiler broke, leaving the premises without heating.
One person on Facebook has this morning posted.
"Omg RGHS shut school down because the heating system is broke and the classrooms are too cold......what???
A nearby business in the area, which didn't want to be named, confirmed the students had been sent home about 9.30am.
The Rotorua Daily Post has not been able to contact the principal for comment on the issue.
Students were sent home in June 2010 after the school had experienced ongoing problems with its boiler and eventually it broke down completely.
The Ministry of Education guidelines for heating classrooms are set at 18C and 12C to 14C for larger rooms like gymnasiums or halls.
