Analysis of proposed Department of Conservation (DoC) job cuts reveal up to 24 jobs could be lost in the East Coast/Bay of Plenty region.
However, 21 jobs could be created in Taupo during the department's restructure.
The Government's planned DoC restructure could see 29 new jobs created in Wellington with about 140 lost from provincial offices around the country.
The Rotorua office could lose 4.3 staff, 3 in Murupara, 3.5 in Whakatane and 3.8 in Opotiki.
In the Tongariro/Whanganui/Taranaki conservancy, DoC's Turangi office will lose 19 staff with another two jobs going from the Whakapapa base. An extra 21 positions are proposed for Taupo. A final decision on job losses and restructuring will be made by the Government on April 21. Staff from local DoC offices are not allowed to comment to the media.
