The company's franchise support manager Victor Milne said they began advertising the positions two weeks ago and so far there had been 50 applications. A shortlist of those applicants were to be interviewed on Thursday but the positions were still being advertised as more staff were needed.
Mr Milne said they were still waiting on building consent. The 150sq m site could seat between 60 and 70 people.
A new pizza restaurant Capizzi Pizzeria has recently opened in Rotorua employing four staff with another two staff expected to be employed down the track. The restaurant, which is owned by Sue Burnett, offers New York-style wood fired pizzas and can be bought as a whole pizza or by the slice.
Meanwhile, an Eruera St building which was previously leased by The Importer has been leased to another retailer.
Ray White commercial sales agent Angela Payne said she was not able to name the store yet but said this was the company's 11th store and they had not been in Rotorua before.
The business mainly has stores in the North Island. The store, which would offer a mixture of retail including clothing, shoes and accessories, was expected to employ five staff and be open in less than a month.
Meanwhile, Bin Inn is opening at the Redwood Centre at the intersection of Te Ngae Rd and Tarawera Rd next week.
Tauranga businessman Gurmeet Singh, who is opening Bin Inn, said he could not find a better place in Rotorua than the Redwood Centre to open the store.
He said his business partner would manage the 220sq m store and he was to employ another two staff through Work and Income.
Bin Inn is a wholefoods speciality store chain offering items such as nuts, dried fruit, confectionary and gluten free products. Mr Singh said the store would have more than 300 products.
Bayleys Rotorua leasing specialist Mark Rendell, who is marketing the Redwood Centre, confirmed that Domino's had "gone unconditional" this week and would be leasing a 130sq m site next door to Burger Fuel.
Domino's, advertised in the Rotorua Daily Post last month that it had a site in Rotorua for a new store and was looking for a franchisee.
Domino's management could not be reached for comment.
Mr Rendell said there were still five vacant sites available including one designated for a cafe.
Mr Rendell said they were negotiating with two potential tenants for the cafe site and a possible tenant for one of the other smaller sites.
