The number 13 is a lucky one for a retired Rotorua couple after they spun $250,000 on Lotto's Winning Wheel.
David and Bev, who didn't want their last names revealed, have been retired for 13 years.
They owned Arawa Fine Wines for 13 years and after a year of health issues they were keen for 2013 to bring happiness into their lives.
David said: "2012 wasn't great.
"My New Year's resolution was that 2013 would be better.
"It's definitely started that way."
The couple, who spun the Winning Wheel on Saturday, always buy their Lotto tickets from the Lucky Lotto Shop on Tutanekai St.
David said the trip to Wellington had been very special for the couple.
"To get $250,000 was lovely. I'm making a plan for it at the moment," he said.
At the top of his list was a spot of overseas travel to drop in on his son in New York.
"He wants us to visit and he has done for the last few years but we didn't have the health last year," David said.
