Get in quick for Lakeside corporate tickets

By Kristin Macfarlane

Corporate tickets for Lakeside 2013 - Come Together are on sale, but those who want them should get in fast.

Rotorua Lakeside Concert Charitable Trust chairman Ian Edward said traditionally corporate tickets for the annual event sold out and he encouraged members of the public to get their tickets fast if they wanted seating.

Corporate tickets cost $30 and allow people to sit in a cordoned off area of the Village Green to enjoy the show. They get seats and can be assured of a space no matter what time they arrive, as opposed to seating on the grass area which would be first-in, first-served, Mr Edward said.

Mr Edward said it was free to enjoy the concert, which was in its 17th year, but those who wanted seating should get their tickets quickly.

Rotorua residents weren't the only people who attended the concert.

He said the concert also attracted regular groups of people from around the country.

One of the best things about Lakeside, Mr Edward said, was the fact that it was "done by the community, for the community".

He was looking forward to this year's concert on March 9 because "we're really delighted with the content".

Meanwhile, the line-up for Lakeside 2013 has been given another boost with Opera Factory being added. The group will provide an eight-singer opera ensemble for the Carmen section of the programme. They will perform three items, artistic director Kate Ward-Smythe said.

The line-up for Lakeside 2013 - Come Together includes Rotorua's own Russell Harrison, former Taupo man and New Zealand Idol runner-up Michael Murphy, Tina Cross, actor Jennifer Ward-Lealand, Ria Hall, Seth Haapu, Eve Gordon, Mike Edwards, Sharon Emirali, Ellen Kuiper, Cameron Clayton, trombone quartet BonaNZa, Diamond Entertainment, a kapa haka ensemble and the Lakeside Orchestra conducted by Mark Dennison.

Opera Factory is an Auckland-based registered charitable trust which has been operating for 15 years. It offers an annual programme of professionally guided performance, opportunity, education and training to young classical singers and is well recognised as providing valuable stepping stones towards formal studies and operatic careers.

Tickets for Lakeside 2013 - Come Together are available from Ticketmaster.
