Rotorua mother Dana Daniel feels as if all her Christmases have come at once after the birth of her second son on Christmas Day.
As everyone else shared Christmas lunch together this year, the Rotorua mum gave birth to her second child.
Mrs Daniel said Vailei wasn't due until December 28 but on Christmas Eve she started feeling the early pangs of the onset of labour.
Husband Tofiga took her to Rotorua Hospital and just before 1pm on Christmas Day, after a short labour, she gave birth to their second son.
At 2.7kg, Vailei weighed nearly 500g more than his older brother weighed at birth.
"It gave me a real fright. It was such a fast labour. But this is the best Christmas present ever. He's such an amazing baby. He is going to bring us so much joy and happiness like our other son has. He's such a special gift and we are so lucky to have him on Christmas Day. All my Christmases have come at once. This is so special,'' she said.
Vailei was the second of two babies born at Rotorua Hospital on Christmas Day.
The other new arrival was born to a Taupo couple, with baby and mother transferred back to Taupo Hospital shortly after the birth.
