Christmas Appeal: Volunteers pound streets for can donations

By Abigail Hartevelt

Volunteers headed out on the streets of Springfield and Glenholme collecting food for The Daily Post Christmas Appeal for the Salvation Army foodbank last night.

Staff from The Daily Post, as well as other businesses, Ritchies Transport and Mechanics in Motion and members of the Salvation Army Church collected food during the can drive.

Firefighters and fire appliances from the Rotorua Fire Service and Ngongotaha Volunteer Fire Brigade were also involved.

Meanwhile, donations to The Daily Post Christmas Appeal for the Salvation Army foodbank can be made at our Hinemoa St office between 8am and 5pm on weekdays. People can donate money or non-perishable food. Food donations can also be made at the Salvation Army's Community Ministries at Community House on Haupapa St.

If any organisations or individuals are organising a can drive or fundraising event, please let us know by contacting reporter Abigail Hartevelt. Phone (07) 348 6199 ext 57049 or email a message to
