An American cancer survivor-turned-adventurer has brought his television show Bucket Wish to Rotorua, involving local CanTeen members.

Bucket Wish will be aired on Choice TV from September 29, featuring Aaron Carotta - aka Adventure Aaron - embarking on a journey through New Zealand's most extreme adventures.

In each adventure, he helps two lucky CanTeen members live their dreams, with four of the 13 episodes being filmed in Rotorua.

CanTeen provides information and support for teenagers with cancer through a community network, education and recreational activities.

Rotorua CanTeen members Travis Young and Nakita Mathews joined Mr Carotta during the first day of filming last week, visiting Nzone Skydive and Agroventures' Freefall Xtreme.

"What can I say, it was an amazing opportunity for me and my mother to be able to jump together and I will always remember this day," Nakita said.

Travis was also buzzing after the experience, thanking Mr Carotta for the opportunity.

This is not the first time the American has filmed an adventure show in Rotorua. His catching and cooking wild game series Catch and Cook with Adventure Aaron was in Rotorua last year.

"Having recovered from my own battle with cancer at the age of 30, I undertook a radical life transformation, vowing to live each day to the fullest and tick off a series of bucket list adventures around the world," Mr Carotta said. "And this time I am helping others check off theirs."

The show's second adventure was filmed at Off Road New Zealand with CanTeen members Zoe Mayhew and Josh McMillan, who were treated to a circuit at the Rotorua International Kartsport Raceway before experiencing a Monster 4x4 Thrill Ride.

High river levels prevented the crew from rafting down the Kaituna River.

Choice TV airs on Freeview Channel 12 and Sky Channel 78.
