A 16-year-old has been charged with assault after an incident outside a house on Clinkard Ave.
Senior Sergeant Zane Smith of the Rotorua police said a man was taken to Rotorua Hospital after the alleged assault, which happened about 9pm on Thursday. He received treatment and was expected to be released yesterday.
Neighbours reported hearing a loud verbal dispute between a man standing on the street and the people living in the house from about 8.45pm on Thursday.
One neighbour, who did not want to be named, said the dispute continued for about 15 minutes until a person came out of the house. The alleged assault occurred soon after.
A 16-year-old was arrested and appeared in the Rotorua Youth Court yesterday charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm. He did not enter a plea and was remanded in the custody of Child, Youth and Family until his next court appearance on September 4.
Yesterday police cordons remained in place around the house, its driveway and the footpath in front of the house, as police continued their investigations.
A Housing New Zealand worker at the property yesterday said they had been called by two of their tenants on the street to advise them that police were at the house, which she said was not a Housing New Zealand property.
