Sentencing of the son of a senior Tauranga police officer has been put off for home detention to be considered.
Ryan Mathew Bielby, 19, appeared in the Rotorua District Court today for sentencing after previously pleading guilty to a charge each of kidnapping, assault, dangerous driving and failing to stop for police in relation to the events on February 14.
Judge Phillip Cooper adjourned sentencing to July 19 for a Waikanae address to be checked out to see if it was suitable for home detention.
Bielby is the son of Senior Sergeant Ross Bielby, the officer in charge of the Tauranga police station.
