Elliot Turner has been found guilty of murdering his New Zealand girlfriend Emily Longley and his parents guilty of trying to cover up their son's crime.
A jury in Britain has this morning found Turner, 20, guilty of strangling 17-year-old Emily in his bedroom of the family home in Queens Park at Bournemouth on May 7 last year.
His parents Leigh and Anita Turner were found guilty of perverting the course of justice for destroying what police say was a confession note from Turner and removing a jacket from the crime scene.
The Daily Echo in Bournemouth reports "obsessed" Turner raised his eyebrows, shook his head and swore under his breath as his verdict was read out in Winchester Crown Court.
He was later seen smiling in the dock as he hugged his parents, the Daily Echo says.
Turner has also been convicted of attempting to pervert the course of justice after he entered a guilty plea on that charge during the trial.
He faces life imprisonment and will be sentenced overnight tonight (Tue-Wed NZT).
Emily's parents Mark and Caroline were in court with Emily's sister Hannah and other relatives and friends.
Outside court, Mr Longley described Turner as "evil" and said the family had been shocked and disgusted during the trial.
"What's really shocked me is the lack of remorse," Mr Longley said.
The Daily Echo reports Turner admitted to grabbing Emily by the neck during a row but denied killing her.
British-born Emily moved to New Zealand when she was nine.
She had travelled to England shortly before her death to live with her grandparents in Southbourne and study for a business diploma at Brockenhurst College.
Turner, who worked at his family's jewellery business in Bournemouth, met Emily while on a double date with mutual friends.
Police outside court thanked investigators and "the young witnesses who came forward to give evidence".
"I would like to thank the wonderful Longley family for their support and patience. I would also like to thank them for their dignity," Detective Inspector Neil Devoto said.
Crown advocate Simon Jones said it was Turner's jealousy and anger that led him to kill Emily.
"This wasn't simply a moment of madness.
"There has been evidence that, before her death, he said that he would kill Emily, go to prison for it and still come out a millionaire."
