Rotorua Airport has thrown its support behind the Supper Club charity fundraiser - donating a trip to Adelaide to the evening's auction.
The six-day trip for two is worth $10,000 and includes flights from Rotorua (via Sydney), luxury accommodation, car hire and a three-night luxury walking safari. The airport has contributed the flights and got Australian companies including Arkaba Walking Safaris and Bayview Boulevard Sydney on board to create a holiday package.
It's sure to be one of the most sought-after lots of the May 15 auction, which is followed by guests being sent to one of 26 Rotorua restaurants for dinner. All money raised goes to the Ronald McDonald Family Retreat at Ngongotaha, a lakeside holiday home provided free to seriously ill children and their families.
Airport chief executive George White said the airport had supported the Supper Club since it began in 2010.
"The airport has a strong community focus, there's a few different events we get involved with but this is the only charity we supported last year and the only one we will do this year," he said.
As a father of two, Mr White said he identified with the charity.
"Every day those families go through a terrible time but it means they can go on holiday with no worries and enjoy [it]. It's a fantastic cause, the reason why we support it."
Mr White said he had also checked out the other auction items, which included a 10-person table at Wearable Creationz worth $1350, Sacred Hill wine, an iPad2, wine chiller, Bose sound dock and KitchenAid appliances.
Organiser Linley Parry said the Adelaide prize package had attracted a lot of interest.
As of yesterday there were just four tickets left for the evening - for information, contact Mrs Parry on 027 551 7096.
