Vintage vehicles shine at Rotorua show

Daryl Sheffield loves all things vintage.
The Rotorua man was one of thousands of people who took part in the 31st Rotorua Vintage and Veteran Car Club Swap Meet and Car Show yesterday.
Mr Sheffield has been going to the annual swap meet for the past three years and said it was a great opportunity to get out and talk to people with similar interests and look at the vintage cars and goods on offer.
Mr Sheffield took his classic Land Rover to the event and each year he sets up a stall promoting his Rotorua business, Canvas Tech.
"It is great being able to come here and talk to people and have a look around."
He said this year's event had a good turnout despite the wet weather.
"We've made a bit of a mess of the grass though," he said.
"It has been a really good year. There have been some good things on display and I have had a lot of people coming to talk about what I do."
Event organiser Neville Harper said about 100 vintage and classic cars were on show, including his American 1961 Studebaker Hawk.
He said the event usually drew a crowd of up to 8000 but this year would have been down on that.
He estimated about 5000 people went to yesterday's event.
"It was a really good turnout considering the weather."
Mr Harper said the event was always a good day out for the family.
