If you have thought about joining a marching team, judging marching competitions or supporting those in the sport, then you might like to check out the Marching Bay of Plenty Field Day.
Five Bay of Plenty marching teams are taking part in the field day this weekend.
It will be held at the Lynmore Scout Hall grounds on Lewis Rd on Sunday, with marching teams taking to the field from 10.30am.
Madison Blues under-12 marching team coach Helen Cunningham said the five teams include local Kiwi, under-12 and under-16 marchers.
People interested in the sport through either marching for a team, judging or volunteering as a helper would find the field day useful, Ms Cunningham said.
"They will get to find out more about the sport and see exactly what marching is all about," she said.
Marching has been a Kiwi sport since the 1930s, although there has been a decline in recent years.
It's a sport where you get fit, grow strong friendships and learn discipline, Ms Cunningham said.
