A 7-year-old boy hit by a car in Welcome Bay last night remains in a critical condition at Auckland's Starship hospital this morning.
The boy was hit by the car on Meander Drive about 6pm yesterday and was taken to Tauranga Hospital in a serious condition, where he was later transferred to Starship.
Police cordoned off the road and surrounding streets shortly after the incident but there were no new details available from police this morning.
A Starship spokeswoman said the boy was in a critical but stable condition this morning.
Meanwhile, a 14-year-old boy who fell off his mountain bike at Oropi is today in a serious condition at Tauranga Hospital.
The boy had been riding with a friend at the rear of some houses on Oropi Rd when he fell off about 5pm yesterday.
The boy was flown to hospital by the Bay Trust Rescue Helicopter in a serious condition.
A hospital spokeswoman said the boy was this morning in the hospital's intensive care unit in a serious condition.
