It may well have split in two, but the Rena is still stuck fast on the Astrolabe Reef.

Divers haven't yet had a chance to inspect the undersides of the ship, because it's been too rough.

Eight containers came off the back section yesterday, and another seven in good condition were brought ashore by Go Canopus.

They contained mostly timber and furniture - one had milk powder in it.

Container debris has washed up on beaches from Papamoa to Maketu, and milk packets have been collected from Motiti.

Now that the amount of oiled wildlife collected is dropping off, the facility at Te Maunga is being shut down.

Three little blue penguins were collected yesterday and the Massey Wildlife Centre now holds 20 live birds.
