The mystery behind photos of a newly wedded couple on a lost memory stick has been solved.
Nadine Pink, from Hawkes Bay, said she got a shock when relatives and friends sent her messages about a photo of her and husband Jared in the newspaper.
"My first thought was, 'God, that's a bad one'," she joked.
"I thought it was a joke - I went and bought the newspaper just to prove it was real."
The couple were featured in the Herald yesterday after Auckland man Sam Repia approached the paper in a bid to return a memory stick he had found while out walking last week.
The stick had dozens of photos from the couple's wedding, held last January, as well as other family photos.
Despite many of the pictures being of the couple, the memory stick did not belong to them and after a few calls and messages to relatives, they found the owner - Mrs Pink's sister.
"She works quite close to where it was found but she doesn't know how she lost it and didn't know that she had lost it."
The couple, who are planning a trip to Auckland in the next few weeks, have also been in touch with Mr Repia to thank him and have made arrangements for the memory stick to be returned to its grateful owner.
Mrs Pink said she was thankful to have access to the photos as the couple did not have professional photos taken.
