Adam Parore proposed to his model girlfriend in New York this week - and followed it with a Tom Cruise-style fist-pumping cheer.
The former Black Cap asked Miller Rose, 20, to be his wife at the exclusive New York restaurant Eleven Madison on Tuesday night.
"I jumped up above our booth with the customary right hand fist pump and yelled 'she said yes'. The place went nuts," he announced on Facebook.
Parore, 41, carried the engagement ring around for two days and 15000km before finally popping the question.
"I was a bit nervous but I did get the right knee to hit the deck and got a huge clap from the restaurant when the champagne cork went off," said Parore.
He later messaged friends from the hotel room that his "beautiful bride to be" was sleeping.
"She still tries to grab me in her sleep when I sneak out of bed at night which I think is a good sign. Never had that before!" Parore said.
Staff at Eleven Madison were asked to keep quiet on the proposal which was reminiscent of the famous scene from the Oprah show when Hollywood actor Tom Cruise declared his love for Katie Holmes.
Meanwhile, Parore's ex-partner Sally Ridge is filming the first scenes for a possible Kardashian-styled reality TV show.
Ridge, daughter Jaime, and gal pals were filmed at the Ponsonby eatery SPQR on Friday.
TV3 programme director Kelly Martin said there had been interest expressed in a Ridge-reality show and they were considering whether there was enough material.
