A winning Melbourne Cup punter has been ripped off after she posted a selfie that showed the barcode of her ticket.
The winner - identified as a Perth woman named Chantelle - scooped $895 after backing outsider Prince of Penzance in Tuesday's big race.
But a heartless fraudster, who she believes is a Facebook "friend", cut out the barcode and put it in an automated machine to claim the money.
Chantelle said: "To the low life...you're a massive dick. You ruined my day. I might need a bit of a Facebook cull now."
Western Australian police have reportedly tracked down where the money was claimed and they believe they can locate the person responsible.
Fairfax reported reactions on Facebook ranged from describing Chantelle as a stupid "moron" to calling the offender a "scumbag".
