Only 109 wins to go - that's the challenge for Candice Orange, who trained her first winner at Oamaru yesterday.
Orange, 34, is the sister of leading harness racing driver Blair Orange, who is enjoying a stellar season in the sulky with 110 wins.
Candice Orange, by contrast, has only gained her class B thoroughbred training licence this season, but scored with Midnight Cappa in a 1400m maiden from only her 10th raceday starter.
Now she's had the taste of victory, she won't be letting the licence lapse any time soon.
"Then you have the brother-sister rivalry," Orange said. "It's unreal how good he's going; he's pretty amazing in what he does."
Orange mixes in her training with track work for North Canterbury trainers Michael and Tarsha Stokes and Steven Woodsford, but decided to branch out into training.
"You do it for everyone else and I thought why don't I do it myself."
