Tough gelding Noisy Ocean is set to lead a late-season revival for trainer Bryan Guy in the Ipswich Cup.
Noisy Ocean ran a close second to Brave Ali in last year's Ipswich Cup (2150m) and Guy has him primed to go one better on Saturday.
"The Cup is the race we set him for and I couldn't be happier with the lead-in," Guy said.
"He beat the in-form Landlocked at the Gold Coast at his last start and three runs back he dead-heated with Darci Be Good. What I like is the way he has been hitting the line this campaign."
Provided he races well at Ipswich, Guy will take him back to Grafton for the Grafton Cup (2350m) next month.
"He ran third in the Grafton Cup last year and didn't have much luck in the race."
Guy said the Ipswich Cup was usually a good race for lightly weighted horses such as Anagold, whom he trained to win the race two years ago. "Noisy Ocean has got in on the minimum so that will also be a help," Guy said.
Robbie Fradd, who rode Noisy Ocean on the Gold Coast, has retained the ride.
Noisy Ocean has been a wonderful campaigner for Guy winning 10 races and A$584,850 prizemoney.
The gelding's biggest win was the 2014 Magic Millions Stayers Cup and he has been placed four times in stakes company.
