Allan Sharrock has Hover in prime condition to tackle the opening leg of a Wanganui stakes double.
The New Plymouth trainer has enjoyed a trouble-free preparation with the juvenile for today's John Turkington Castletown Stakes.
"His work on Tuesday was as good as he's ever worked," Sharrock said.
"This is the race we have targeted for him. He'll go to the paddock after it and then we'll bring him back for the Wanganui Guineas."
The chestnut son of Starcraft was a debut second in the spring before he returned for a hollow victory over 1200m at Trentham in April and returned to Wellington a fortnight later to continue his winning run.
"He was definitely looking for more than 1000 metres that day and if they had gone further he would have won by more." Sharrock is also expecting strong showings from his other two Wanganui runners, Madonna Mia in the Foxton Cup and Twoznotenough in the Gas & Heating 1600.
